Invisalign® and braces are types of orthodontic appliances used to straighten teeth. This may include gaps, crooked teeth, overlapping teeth and problems with your bite. Invisalign® uses clear removable aligners, and braces are made of wires, brackets, bands and other parts.

Invisalign requires a 3D map of your teeth to create a series of aligners. You switch out the aligners every week. With braces, the brackets, bands and wires are permanently affixed to your teeth, and you come to our office for periodic adjustments. These adjustments involve making changes to the wires to slowly re-position your teeth.
At Lineberger Orthodontics in Charlotte, our orthodontists are able to correct similar orthodontic problems with Invisalign® and braces. Even if you have been told by another Invisalign® provider that you are not a candidate for the aligners, we may have a way you can use Invisalign®. We have the highest Invisalign provider status you can possibly have (this is important, people!)
The Invisalign® aligners are smooth and comfortable. You will need to get used to having the extra bulk of the aligners in your mouth, but they are fairly thin, so this only takes a few days. With braces, you may have to deal with tenderness and raw areas on your cheeks, lips and tongue, caused by the metal wires and brackets.
