Metal braces are a combination of silver-colored brackets and wires that work together to straighten your teeth and improve your bite. You may also have elastics and other appliances that go along with your braces if determined by the doctor.
So why do you even need braces? Besides the obvious BLING these will add to your life, here are just some of the benefits.
So how do all those strange little pieces work to straighten your teeth? Metal braces are a bit of science and art. Your orthodontist understands what parts to use in what manner to move your teeth and correct your jaw.
They went to school for MANY years for this! The key is the archwires attached to the brackets. These wires are increased in size slightly throughout your treatment. The resulting force slowly moves your teeth.
The teeth are moved by placing gentle, controlled forces on them to guide them to their ideal positions over a period of time.
At Lineberger Orthodontics, we’ve got your back. We use only the latest braces options so you get that selfie-worthy smile in no time!
The Damon System of Braces are self-ligating (which is a strange word to explain that instead of having your brackets and wires tightened throughout treatment, they use a sliding mechanism that attaches the wires to the brackets so your teeth move more naturally).
This produces less force than traditional braces, which also often require tooth extractions and expanders or headgear. NOT HERE!
AND PSSSST. Guess what? You can get braces the SAME DAY as your consultation. Come in with no bling. Leave WITH bling. It’s brilliant!
It will take a few days to get used to having your braces. After that, you will have some new brushing and flossing techniques to learn. You will also need to avoid certain foods while wearing braces. We will review all of the specifics of how to take care of your braces properly at your appointment.
At L.O., metal braces and Invisalign® cost about the same. We offer two options to help you keep the cost within budget.
Thank goodness for dental insurance. Many dental insurance plans include a lifetime benefit for orthodontic treatment. If you provide us your dental coverage information, we will be happy to verify orthodontics benefits for you prior to your first appointment.
