Braces

Orthodontic Options

Ok, we want you to stop thinking about those horrendous bulky metal brackets and headgear (thanks Sixteen Candles).  Seriously, though. Stop, we beg you. Things have come a LONG (and we mean LONG) way in even the last decade.

At Lineberger Orthodontics, we invest in cutting edge, top-of-the-line braces, so our patients can have comfortable, effective treatment.

Known as the Damon System of Braces, our treatment produces big, wide, healthy smiles customized for every individual’s facial balance and appearance.

No tightening wires, no pain, no fear, no tears. Phew, glad we got that off our chests.

Benefits of Braces

  • Straighten your smile
  • Reduce risk of oral health problems in the future
  • Can be used for every type of orthodontic condition
  • Permanent fixtures help complete treatment on time

Types of Braces:

Why We Use the Damon System of Braces

At Lineberger Orthodontics, we’ve got your back. We use only the latest braces options so you get that selfie-worthy smile in no time!

The Damon System of Braces are self-ligating (which is a strange word to explain that instead of having your brackets and wires tightened throughout treatment, they use a sliding mechanism that attaches the wires to the brackets so your teeth move more naturally).

This produces less force than traditional braces, which also often require tooth extractions and expanders or headgear. NOT UP IN HERE!

Here are just a few other benefits of using the Damon System of Braces:

  • Brackets are smaller (and if you get clear, they’re barely noticeable!)
  • Faster treatment time (YES SIREE!)
  • Fewer and shorter appointments
  • Less friction, therefore less discomfort
  • Fewer places for plaque to build up
  • Produces big, wide, super awesome smiles!

AND PSSSST. Guess what? You can get braces the SAME DAY as your consultation. Come in with no bling. Leave WITH bling. It’s brilliant!

INVISALIGN

So maybe you don’t want all the metal that comes with more traditional orthodontic treatment. Cool. We got you. Enter Invisalign.

Invisalign uses a series of customized clear aligners to straighten your smile. No metal brackets. No metal wires. And the best part, they’re removable. So there are NO food restrictions like you have with metal braces. SCORE.

Have you been told you’re NOT a candidate for Invisalign? Don’t worry. Don’t give up hope. We’ve had dozens of patients come to us saying that exact thing and guess what, when you have the expertise that we do in Invisalign, you ARE a candidate.

ORTHODONTIC SURGERY

Have you heard of orthognathic surgery or oral and maxillofacial surgery? We think that’s WAY too complicated, so we just say orthodontic surgery. This is a field of oral surgery that helps with more severe orthodontic conditions that cannot be corrected with braces or Invisalign #bummer.

Orthodontic surgery is typically performed before you get braces (or you may end up not needing braces at all!)

RETAINERS

Orthodontic retainers are most often used after braces or Invisalign treatment is complete (or sometimes in between Phase 1 and Phase 2 in Early Treatment). Retainers do a super awesome job of holding your teeth in place. We worked so hard on that smile. Make sure you take care of it!

Lifetime Retainers

Ok, you ready to hear something amazing? I know you are. So, we offer a Lifetime Retainer Program where you can get free retainers for LIFE for a small upfront cost.

Believe us when we say, retainers tend to go missing (ie, Fido gets ahold of them, they’re thrown away on lunch trays — you get our drift). The cost of this program FAR beats the cost of replacing retainers.

We’ll fill you in on all the deets at your initial consultation so you can decide if it’s a program you’d like to join. (We think you will).

Adult Orthodontics

Think you’re too old to get treatment because you’re an adult? THINK AGAIN, SILLY! Adult treatment is one of the fastest growing areas of orthodontics. At Lineberger Orthodontics, Dr. Matt Lineberger, Dr. Megan Lineberger, Dr. David Pearson and Dr. Claire Fedore, and Dr. Josiah Rich offer adult orthodontics in Charlotte, Huntersville, Mooresville and surrounding communities in North Carolina. We are also available for Virtual Consultations.

You already know the time has come to address the problems with your teeth that keep you from beaming every time you walk into a room. Either your dentist has explained it to you, or your friends have ever so gently recommended you look into orthodontic treatment.

Yes, we know. You would rather listen to fingernails on a chalkboard than have orthodontic treatment at this point in your life, but before you run off, take a few minutes to learn how Lineberger Orthodontics has redefined adult orthodontic treatment.

HOW IS ADULT ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT DIFFERENT?

  • Special consideration for your social and professional life
  • Not your parents’ orthodontic experiences

Teen Orthodontics

orthodontics for teens in charlotte

Being a teen is hard. Like, really hard. And we don’t want to cramp your style. At Lineberger Orthodontics, we know the value of a beautiful smile. We see it every day in our patients. They leave our office with beaming, confident smiles to take on the world. That’s what makes our job worthwhile!

THERE ARE SEVERAL TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR TEENS JUST LIKE YOU!

One of the most popular options for teens is our self-ligating braces that come in both traditional and clear! With this revolutionary self-ligating technology, the metal wire is held into place by a moveable component instead of elastic ties. This allows your teeth to move more freely to provide a more comfortable orthodontic experience.

Another great option for our teen patients is Invisalign Teen®, which uses a series of clear, removable trays to straighten teeth.

We are a certified provider of Invisalign Teen®. This allows you to straighten your smile without anyone even knowing!

Lineberger Orthodontics offers orthodontics for teens in Denver, Charlotte, Huntersville, Mooresville, and surrounding areas of North Carolina. To find out which option would best fit your needs, request a FREE consultation!

Early Orthodontics

Braces at 7? Seriously? Just keep reading…

early age orthodontics treatment in charlotte

There are certain conditions that may qualify a child for early orthodontic treatment. These might include things like crossbites, crowded teeth or narrow arches. If crowded teeth are fixed at an earlier age, they allow more room for adult teeth to come in and may in turn reduce the need for teeth pulling later in life.

Early prevention starts at age seven, which is when The American Association of Orthodontists recommends parents bring their children to an orthodontist. Don’t freak out, mom and dad. This does NOT mean that your 7 year old needs braces. I repeat, this does NOT mean your 7 year old needs braces.

At this age, permanent teeth have begun to create a bite pattern and can be examined for irregularities. Starting treatment early may be more beneficial to the patient. An example of this is for treatment of narrow arches. With palate expanders, the arch can be widened so that the top and bottom teeth fit together better, and other issues can be addressed in the second phase of treatment.

Phase one treatment, early treatment between the ages of seven and nine, can also take advantage of bones that are still growing and better address problems before they develop fully.

Two Phase treatment may include the use of expanders and other appliances, metal braces or even Invisalign!

You might consider taking your child to an orthodontist for early prevention if:

  • They have trouble breaking a thumb-sucking habit
  • A speech impediment exists
  • Your child’s jaw comes together in an abnormal way when they bite
  • Your child’s teeth do not come together, or do so in an irregular manner
  • There is an issue with breathing
  • Teeth protrude from the upper or lower jaw
  • Your child has problems with chewing and biting
  • Your child loses their baby teeth too early or too late (they should start losing teeth at age 5 and have their adult teeth by 13)

TWO PHASE TREATMENT

Typically, children who need orthodontics at an early age will need another round of treatment once all of the permanent teeth are present. This is referred to as two phase treatment. By dividing the treatment into two different parts, it allows the orthodontist to correct all problems that contribute to overall function of the mouth and teeth.

Typically, between the phase one and phase two treatment, there is a rest period.

Phase Two:

The second phase of treatment is used to tweak and correct any problems that could not be addressed or fixed by the first phase of treatment. It usually occurs after all permanent teeth have developed and acquired a place within the mouth.

Braces can be worn for varying amounts of time, but are usually kept on for 18-24 months. Once removed, a retainer is made to keep the teeth where they are supposed to be.

If you have questions about early age orthodontic treatment, please do not hesitate to contact any of our offices in Denver, Charlotte, Huntersville, or Mooresville.  We are also available for virtual consultations.
