We have great news! Affording orthodontic treatment isn’t out of reach. (Woohoo!)

At
Lineberger Orthodontics, our patients are like family. So, we are letting you in on a little secret. There may be insurance options that include braces.

Dental and health insurance plans offer a variety of coverage options. Each provides different levels of insurance coverage, waiting periods, deductibles, and more. Understanding your health benefits and covered products or services can be confusing.

First, review your dental
insurance plan to find out if your dentist or orthodontist is in-network. Determine whether orthodontic treatment is covered fully, partially, or not at all. Unfortunately, many insurance plans that cover dental services only cover part of or do not cover orthodontic treatments at all.

Fear not, there are still insurance options!

Coverage for Orthodontics with FSA or HSA

Many people are unaware that orthodontic treatment may be eligible for reimbursement. A
Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) can be used for your healthcare needs. Both are essentially savings plans in which money is set aside specifically for out-of-pocket dental and medical expenses

Money is often deducted directly from your paycheck and placed into the account. Some employers help fund FSAs or HSAs as well. Either way, the funds are then available when the need arises.

With either plan, reimbursements can help cover the cost of
braces, Invisalign, or other orthodontic services.

Benefits of Using Your FSA for Orthodontic Treatment

Maximize your dental coverage and enhance your smile today! The following tips may help you use your FSA account to cover braces or Invisalign.

Tips for Using Your FSA Benefits:

  • Your FSA can be used to cover treatment for adults and children!
  • The savings plan can be used to pay for braces and Invisalign.
  • Orthodontic treatment is not limited to just brackets or aligner trays. FSA reimbursements can help pay for additional orthodontic needs such as prescriptions, dental wax, and retainers.
  • Remember to always save your receipts for medical, dental, and orthodontic care!
  • Use an HSA/FSA card to pay as you go or submit receipts for reimbursement.
